L'avverbio è la parte invariabile del disccroso che si aggiunge al verbo per modificarne il significato. Ha in pratica la stessa funzione che l'aggettivo ha con il sostantivo.
Peter has got a beautiful (aggettivo) voice (sostantivo) Peter speaks beautifully (avverbio)
L'avverbio può inoltre modificare:
un aggettivo Sheila is very beautiful.
un altro avverbio We arrived too early.
sostantivi It's almost night.
intere frasi Probably, they helped her when she went to New York.
Gli avverbi forniscono informazioni rispetto a dove, in che modo e quando si svolge un'azione.
They live there. He speaks slowly. Mr Jones arrive early.
